Using White: Decorating for Holidays

While after the holidays is the time to be thinking about how to pack everything up to keep it looking nice for next year, gathering together all the needed packing supplies like edge protectors, or for larger items, jumbo edge protectors as you seek out personal custom packaging solutions for the decorations you have, it is also the perfect time to look for things that can be used next year under any color scheme.  One of the most underestimated colors to seek out for generic decorating is white, and yet it is the neutral tone that anything and everything goes with.

Some popular color schemes include white, ivory and cream.  These “shade of white” arrangements can be combined together or have other colors blended with them to make them new each year at a very minimal cost. Consider the fact that you can find these colors year round and do not need to be limited to one season to use them.  Adding pink and red tones can take these features into valentines day, and if done right topping with blue makes a great statement for independence day.  Easter and spring holidays also benefit with the addition of pastel colors while the same base shades of white accent earth tones and oranges in the fall.  This means careful selection can give you centerpieces that take you through the year for each holiday in turn with ease.

If elegance is a key thing for you consider the same type of “shades of white” with a metallic offset.  What color you chose, be it silver, gold, copper, or something bolder, depends on the room and the mood you want to set for it. You can carry this into candle arrangements, table settings, floral displays, and more.    Adding clear or frosted crystal and lovely silver pieces can give you an elegance that displays timeless grace. Plus crystal is one of the most versatile decorating elements you can have, because it goes from season to season effortlessly.

White can be either warm or cool depending on how you accessorize it.  Blending it with warm shades or rich colors like burgundy and copper can make white basics look crisp and inviting.  On the reverse pairing white with shades of blues and silver lends a cool and timeless winter appeal. Consider wreathes, stockings, shimmering ribbons and even throws in the chosen accent colors to help set off the white as a counter point to it. Adding crystal LED lights gives you a low cost and lovely way to add sparkle that will not destroy the arrangement like burning a candle would do.

There is no need to pack all the white away once the holidays are over.  Set aside the edge protectors, or special jumbo edge protectors as part of your custom packaging solutions and instead make a basic statement that can be accented in different ways throughout the year by the addition of season colors and fresh flowers, themed accents, or simply solid colors that work with white to being the next holiday to life as it approaches.

Christmas Decorating

There are many things to consider when you are decorating for the holidays. You might consider the neighborhood, the scheme, and how you are going to decorate.

Some neighborhoods like to get together and agree on how they will decorate for the holiday. Some HOAs will not allow you to put the big Christmas decorations out in the front yard of your home. If you have an oversized Santa and sleigh for the front yard and want to put it out this year, be sure your home owner’s association will not fine you. This might sound silly but if you have ridiculous neighbors they may complain about your decorations. Always talk to the neighbors if you belong to a home owner’s association.

When you decorate for Christmas most people like to match their color scheme inside of the house and outside of the house. This looks nicer when people come to your home to find a matching color scheme. You can find decorations for Christmas all over the place. You should be sure the Christmas trees match the scheme of the home too. It would look very weird to have a bright red, gold, and green decorated home and a silver and blue decorated tree.

Many people like to buy the artificial Christmas trees each year and do their decorating around the color schemes of the tree. You might choose to do this if you aren’t sure of the colors to go with this year. The best solution is to find a predecorated tree with all of the ornaments and lights on it and then go with the scheme. This can save you a lot of time if you are pressed for time during the holiday season this year.

Lights on the outside of your home can look really good if you choose to put them up the right way. You might have many trees in the yard you want to decorate with lighting as artificial Christmas trees. This can look very nice. When you use outdoor lighting it is important to use safe lights designed for outdoor use. Lights usually look best when you line the house with the lights and they are in a perfect line. Some people like to use the icicle lights or sway their lighting scheme. You can do it anyway you prefer. Remember not to use a staple gun or you could cause a fire hazard with the light strands. It may be easier but it can be dangerous.

When you decorate in and outside for Christmas it can be hard to decide on a color scheme and how you are going to do it. You should always check with your neighbors if you are in a home owner’s association so you do not get fined. If your goal is to attract visitors then you want to be sure to have as much lighting as possible on the outside of your home. Remember, this can be a big electricity bill and the bright lights might shine into your neighbor’s windows and cause them to be unable to sleep.
