Light Considerations at Christmas
There are many considerations when it comes to lights at Christmas. Christmas is most peoples’ favorite time of year and to some it is all about the lights. People love to spend their evenings driving around and checking out the decorations people have at their homes.
It is common for some neighborhoods to have contests each year on who has the best decorated home. Some cities and small towns often encourage this also. This causes people to go all out and you can see a brightly lit up neighborhood because everyone is competing to be the brightest and most decorated home. The glow in the night sky is amazing from afar to see the homes illuminated with the bright Christmas colors.
It is common for people to like to drive around the city and check out the lights on business offices and through residential neighborhoods. The best place to go usually is through downtown where you can see the streets lined with artificial garlands, lighted palm trees, and bright decorations. Most businesses take part in the decorating too.
If you own a business it actually may be required for you to decorate during Christmas so you match the rest of the buildings. You should even if there is not a requirement because you will only be frowned upon and look like a scrooge. You might find you have fewer customers if you don’t have artificial Christmas tree in the window of your store. People shopping for the holidays are always looking for the deals and if you are not decorated they might assume you have no holiday sales also.
There are considerations you need to make when you decorate for the holidays. If you are decorating at your home and you have neighbors right next door you might want to talk to them about the holiday. Even if you are not living in a home owner’s association it is the right thing to do. You might not realize that your neighbor’s bedroom window is facing the brightest lit part of your home. These lights might make it impossible for them to sleep and very angry. You might be able to agree on certain times of night where you can have the lights on without upsetting the neighbor. It is always best to make sure your bright lights are not too much light for neighbors.
Bright lights of decorations are what people love about Christmas. You might find yourself driving down the brightly lit streets enjoying the decorations also. It is fun to decorate your home and people appreciate it too. It can get rather expensive on the electric bill, so keep this in mind. It is also important to remember to be respectful to neighbors if you plan on lighting up the night sky at home. The last thing you want is to have a neighbor upset with you during your favorite holiday. It is holiday of giving and peace so it is important to be as respectful as possible.
